Been meaning to ask this. Median household income is $45,984, which feels on the lower side for the area.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Seattle about 15 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is better than expected.
