Is Springfield getting better or worse?

First post here. Homes are going for about $165,200 on average. Household incomes average around $45,984 in Springfield. Median household income is $45,984, which feels on the lower side for the area. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Does this match your experience? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Raleigh about 13 years ago. The main reasons were school and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is excellent.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Good luck with whatever you decide..
