Hi all, Homes are going for about $622,200 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Springfield sits at 130.5 per 100K. With a population of 30,894, Springfield is a smaller city. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from San Diego about 7 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is improving.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The healthcare is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..
