Anyone work in healthcare in St. Matthews?

Random thought, Rent is about $1,253/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $325,700 on average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Thoughts? The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 2 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 12 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

Definitely worth checking out..

Bought a house here in 2020 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a teacher, 58, moved here 8 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Uptown and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Limited shopping options
3. The cultural scene situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for remote workers. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $100K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Lakewood. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in legal. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Thai.

No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Westside. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in construction. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
