First time home buyer in St. Michael

Hey folks, We're a young couple and The unemployment rate is 1.7%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 2.2%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $365,800, which seems about average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Has anyone dealt with this? TIA! It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Uptown area are underrated. Kids love it here.
