What St. Michael does better than anywhere else

It's a a small town city with about 19,267 people. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. Let me know your thoughts. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The community vibe is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Midtown. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is solid in most areas.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in South for 7 years. Moved from Charlotte for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is solid - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. South schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Chain restaurants dominate. Bugs and humidity in summer. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 5/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much pricey but now it's hit or miss.
