I'm a 55-year-old real estate agent and Crime rate is something to consider -St. Stephens sits at 390.8 per 100K. Median household income is $57,882, which feels about average for the area. The unemployment rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. With a population of 9,409, St. Stephens is a small town. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. TIA! The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The housing market is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 8 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
