Hi all, You can expect to pay around $1,749 for rent here. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What would you do? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely challenging and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'm a HR manager and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

Used to live on the Maple Ridge side, now on the Eastside side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is average in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 12 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is tough.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.
