I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Crime rate is something to consider -Staples sits at 19.2 per 100K. The median home value here is around $1,202,800, which is pretty steep. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

I'm a contractor and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Lakewood. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in tech. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Indian.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely average and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Riverside) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely excellent and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Springfield) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.
