Life in Stephenville as a young professional

I'm retired and Median household income is $55,504, which feels about average for the area. It's a a small town city with about 21,345 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Stephenville sits at 179.3 per 100K. Homes are going for about $226,300 on average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Good job market
- Low crime in most areas

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Rising rent prices
- Not enough green space
What are your go-to spots? The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 1 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Eastside) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
