Living in Stephenville -the reality

Hey, You can expect to pay around $1,128 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Stephenville sits at 179.3 per 100K. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Worth the trade-offs? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Portland about 5 years ago. The main reasons were work and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. No regrets on my end..

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.
