Raising a family in Stephenville -thoughts?

Longtime lurker here, Been living here since 2024. Household incomes average around $55,504 in Stephenville. Poverty rate is 9.1%, which is pretty low. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Is this normal for Stephenville? The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a project manager, 32, moved here 3 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The healthcare situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for couples. tough vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $60K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
