So, I'm retired and Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Nashville about 2 years ago. The main reasons were weather and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are stable, gas is better than expected.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Dallas about 6 years ago. The main reasons were weather and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Westside. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Southern.
