Worst things about Streamwood nobody talks about

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a teacher here and Poverty rate is 6.3%, which is pretty low. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What are your go-to spots? Looking forward to hearing from you all. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The dating scene scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The cultural scene scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely solid and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Uptown) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Limited shopping options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The cultural scene is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely average and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 36, moved here 9 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in The Heights and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Dating scene is rough
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The walkability situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for remote workers. solid vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
