What I wish I knew before living in Summerfield

Random thought, My family moved here when I was a kid. With a population of 11,031, Summerfield is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 11,031 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Summerfield sits at 477.0 per 100K. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Any help is appreciated. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

I work in hospitality here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is solid. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 24, moved here 8 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in Highland and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Great outdoor activities nearby
3. Low crime in most neighborhoods
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The weather situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for young professionals. challenging vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $70K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
