The good and bad of living in Tamalpais-Homestead Valley

Longtime lurker here, Crime rate is something to consider -Tamalpais-Homestead Valley sits at 76.3 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $2,990 for rent here. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 15 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
