Is Tellico Village a good place to live?

Been meaning to ask this. Crime rate is something to consider -Tellico Village sits at 538.0 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 0.4%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $2,020 for rent here. Poverty rate is 1.7%, which is pretty low. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 58, moved here 5 years ago from Austin. I've lived in Highland and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Friendly community, easy to meet people
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The public transit situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for families. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
