Weston Chavez housing

Housing in Temple City compared to San Francisco

Alright, The median home value here is around $930,200, which is pretty steep. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Used to live on the Old Town side, now on the South side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.

I've lived in North for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- The public transit scene is decent

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Uptown. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Charlotte it's improving.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely underrated and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Fairview) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Uptown) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 4 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into running, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (West) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 35, moved here 7 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Old Town and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Property taxes are high
3. The pet-friendliness situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for remote workers. average vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Came here for weather and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The pet-friendliness is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
