Living in Temple City -the reality

Random thought, Been living here since 2010. Rent is about $2,034/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $2,034 for rent here. Household incomes average around $102,449 in Temple City. Crime rate is something to consider -Temple City sits at 176.8 per 100K. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Lakewood. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in construction. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Dallas about 9 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is tough.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
