How are the schools in Temple?

Hey everyone, Been living here since 2023. Homes are going for about $220,300 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,174 for rent here. The suburbs are where most families end up. Am I wrong here? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

I'm a teacher and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 11 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been here 9 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Diverse dining options
- The public transit scene is decent

The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 14 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Miami about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is excellent.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 25, moved here 1 years ago from Houston. I've lived in South and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Affordable housing options
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Summers can be brutally hot
3. The healthcare situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for young professionals. tough vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
