Is public transit usable in Temple?

Alright, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Crime rate is something to consider -Temple sits at 279.8 per 100K.

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in Downtown area are underrated. Kids love it here.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 48, moved here 13 years ago from Portland. I've lived in Downtown and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The safety situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for singles. solid vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Portland, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $100K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.
