Planning a move to Temple -neighborhoods?

Curious what people think. Average temperature is around 71--F, so it's warm year-round. It's a a smaller city city with about 86,358 people. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Should I be concerned? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a teacher, 29, moved here 11 years ago from Austin. I've lived in The Heights and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Diverse dining options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The cost of living situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for families. improving vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I work in marketing here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is excellent. Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for school and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The community vibe is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Nashville it's hit or miss.

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The housing market is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..
