So, I'm single, late 30s, and Homes are going for about $570,100 on average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Has anyone dealt with this?

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value safety, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 15 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Maple Ridge for 5 years. Moved from Nashville for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
tech is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Not very walkable outside downtown. And food scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 6/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Minneapolis about 13 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Rising rent and home prices
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is solid.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. No regrets on my end..

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for family and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The traffic is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
