What The Hills does better than anywhere else

So, I'm a remote worker and You can expect to pay around $2,240 for rent here. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Uptown for 14 years. Moved from Miami for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is improving - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Chain restaurants dominate. And dating scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 5/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Came here for weather and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The dating scene is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The public transit is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Dallas it's solid.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
