Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 7 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are manageable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I work in construction here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is tough. Feel free to reach out with questions..

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much established but now it's average.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The cost of living is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 5 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The housing market is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 6 years ago. The main reasons were family and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is decent.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Highland for 1 years. Moved from Tampa for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
finance is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is average - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Highland schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Homeless population growing downtown. And dating scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 8/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
