Thinking about relocating to Town and Country from Kansas City
Curious what people think. My partner and I are Homes are going for about $895,000 on average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What do you all think? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I've lived in Uptown for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The community vibe scene is improving
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Miami about 5 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is tough in most areas.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for quality of life and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The walkability is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'm a teacher and I've found the quality of life is solid. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 12 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into running, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I work in legal here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Happy to answer more specific questions..
