Weekend activities in Town and Country?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Rent is about $2,316/month for a decent place.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Chicago about 13 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are growing, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. No regrets on my end..

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in The Heights area are challenging. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Riverside. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in engineering. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 12 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
