Best and worst neighborhoods in Town and Country

Hey folks, I grew up here but left for a while. Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. What would you do? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Dallas about 3 years ago. The main reasons were family and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of new development happening
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Nightlife is limited

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely tough and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (East) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is improving in most areas.

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.
