OK so I grew up here but left for a while. Crime rate is something to consider -Townsend sits at 97.0 per 100K. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Anyone in a similar situation? The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Oak Park for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community
- The dating scene scene is solid
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Summers can be brutally hot
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great Korean places. I genuinely enjoy living here.
