Median household income is $118,253, which feels pretty solid for the area. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if pet-friendliness matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Downtown area are decent. Kids love it here.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

Moved here from San Diego about 9 years ago. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Still getting used to pet-friendliness but No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely better than expected and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Riverside. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in education. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.
