Raising a family in Union Hill-Novelty Hill -thoughts?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm retired and Rent is about $2,597/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Union Hill-Novelty Hill sits at 13.1 per 100K. The median home value here is around $1,174,100, which is pretty steep. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Bought a house here in 2017 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Came here for work and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The public transit is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
