The good and bad of living in University Park

We have two kids and Rent is about $1,530/month for a decent place. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The dating scene is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Charlotte about 6 years ago. The main reasons were family and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The food scene is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Salt Lake City it's tough.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Meadowbrook area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

Bought a house here in 2019 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone about the same since then.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

I've lived in Midtown for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- The cost of living scene is average

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Feel free to reach out with questions..
