Is Upland a good place to live?

OK so I'm originally from Las Vegas and Rent is about $1,976/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 61--F, so the weather is moderate. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Has anyone dealt with this? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Downtown. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in marketing. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
