Military spouse here. The unemployment rate is 1.6%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,197/month for a decent place. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Has anyone dealt with this?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from San Francisco about 4 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Miami it's surprisingly good.

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much pricey but now it's hit or miss.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.
