Random thought, I'm a remote worker and Median household income is $57,170, which feels about average for the area. The unemployment rate is 1.4%, which is pretty low. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Am I wrong here? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Raleigh about 2 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is nightlife. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely average and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (South) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Boston about 4 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are growing, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a chef, 35, moved here 2 years ago from Denver. I've lived in North and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The housing market situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for remote workers. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $40K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the South side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if pet-friendliness matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Came here for weather and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The weather is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
