Alright, Born and raised here. Rent is about $1,035/month for a decent place. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much wild but now it's challenging.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely pretty good and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great farm-to-table places. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Raleigh about 3 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. No regrets on my end..

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.
