Anyone else love living in Washington?

I'm single, late 30s, and Crime rate is something to consider -Washington sits at 159.8 per 100K. With a population of 15,946, Washington is a small town. Rent is about $1,087/month for a decent place. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Good job market
- Nice parks and trails
- Growing food scene
- Active local events

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Lack of diversity
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Boring for young people
- Limited cultural events
Thanks for reading. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 50, moved here 2 years ago from New York. I've lived in North and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good internet infrastructure
2. Diverse dining options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The healthcare situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for couples. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $60K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
