Anyone else love living in Washington?
I'm single, late 30s, and Crime rate is something to consider -Washington sits at 159.8 per 100K. With a population of 15,946, Washington is a small town. Rent is about $1,087/month for a decent place. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up.
Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Good job market
- Nice parks and trails
- Growing food scene
- Active local events
Cons:
- Cold winters
- Lack of diversity
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Boring for young people
- Limited cultural events
Thanks for reading. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up.
