Is Waterford getting better or worse?

I'm single, late 40s, and With a population of 9,177, Waterford is a small town. The unemployment rate is 3.8%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 11.8%, which is around average. It's a a small town city with about 9,177 people. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Good schools
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Not very walkable
- Chain restaurants dominate
It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the Downtown side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Old Town) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 12 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Old Town for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The job market scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Nightlife is limited

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Hope this helps!.
