OK so I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Homes are going for about $142,200 on average. The city has invested a lot in new development. Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks in advance! There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a electrician, 48, moved here 2 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Greenfield and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Can feel isolated
3. The public transit situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for young professionals. average vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $100K-$70K here.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Maple Ridge area are underrated. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Meadowbrook. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in tech. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 1 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
