Born and raised here. The unemployment rate is 5.0%, which is about average. It's a a small town city with about 5,422 people. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Anyone in a similar situation?

I'm a pharmacist and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

I work in marketing here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is solid. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in Eastside for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions
- The public transit scene is tough
The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Came here for work and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The food scene is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value safety, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely average and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Highland) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Westside. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in tech. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Hope this helps!.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
