With a population of 44,802, West Lafayette is a smaller city. Household incomes average around $33,497 in West Lafayette. It's a a smaller city city with about 44,802 people. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What do you all think? Thanks in advance! Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Nashville about 3 years ago. The main reasons were work and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited public transit options

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Seattle about 5 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is improving.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
