Relocating to West Lafayette, IN -pros and cons?
My partner and I are Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. With a population of 44,802, West Lafayette is a smaller city. Poverty rate is 7.2%, which is pretty low. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Worth the trade-offs? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.
