The good and bad of living in West Lealman

So, I'm originally from Orlando and Poverty rate is 11.4%, which is around average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Should I be concerned? Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to.

I'm a accountant and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.

Bought a house here in 2022 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Fairview area are average. Kids love it here.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is community vibe. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

The food scene here is pretty good. Tons of great Indian places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely underrated and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Riverside) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 37, moved here 5 years ago from Houston. I've lived in West and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Four distinct seasons
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The food scene situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for families. solid vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
