What I wish I knew before living in West Lealman

Random thought, We have two kids and Crime rate is something to consider -West Lealman sits at 258.4 per 100K. Homes are going for about $162,800 on average. Household incomes average around $48,965 in West Lealman. With a population of 15,560, West Lealman is a small town. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Does this match your experience? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a teacher, 48, moved here 1 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in East and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Rising rent and home prices
3. The dating scene situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for couples. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The nightlife is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
