Not sure if this has been asked before, but The city has invested a lot in new development. What do you all think? TIA!

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Westside area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

I've lived in South for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good airport with direct flights
- The housing market scene is improving

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 12 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a project manager, 44, moved here 5 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in Springfield and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The school system situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for families. solid vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Boston about 9 years ago. The main reasons were family and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good internet infrastructure
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is decent.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The nightlife is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Midtown area are challenging. Kids love it here.
