What I wish I knew before living in Westminster

So, Born and raised here. Average temperature is around 64--F, so the weather is moderate. The median home value here is around $383,100, which seems about average. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Came here for weather and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The safety is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Miami about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is improving.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 6 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into running, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Sunset for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The pet-friendliness scene is decent

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Hope this helps!.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.
