Hello, Just moved here 2 months ago and Median household income is $49,291, which feels on the lower side for the area. You can expect to pay around $1,013 for rent here. Homes are going for about $168,600 on average. Poverty rate is 11.3%, which is around average. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What neighborhoods would you suggest? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Houston about 4 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is solid.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely underrated and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Westside for 3 years. Moved from Boston for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
education is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Westside schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Limited entertainment options. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 5/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've lived in Fairview for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Active local events and festivals
- The walkability scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Atlanta it's better than expected.
