First post here. Been living here since 2010. Homes are going for about $348,100 on average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Is this normal for Wharton? TIA! Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much wild but now it's decent.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Denver about 14 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is tough.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
