Things that make Willoughby unique

Longtime lurker here, Been living here since 2005. Rent is about $1,147/month for a decent place. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Any advice would be great. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 4 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for work and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The housing market is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much manageable but now it's improving.

I work in healthcare here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is underrated. Good luck with whatever you decide..

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Minneapolis about 15 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Feel free to reach out with questions..
