Rent in Wisconsin Rapids getting crazy

Hey, My family moved here when I was a kid. Homes are going for about $116,600 on average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I wrong here?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Baltimore about 2 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are competitive, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. No regrets on my end..
